A thirteenth-month wage is a payment made by an employer to employees in accordance with certain laws or employment contracts. Usually paid in December, the Christmas bonus might be comparable to a full month’s wages. An employee must receive at least one-twelfth of his or her total basic salary in a calendar year in order to be eligible for the 13th month pay.
